Office Machines Industries (IOMInd): Tapping on the know-how of
LG (Goldstar) Corporation of Korea, and under their license, in 1995, IOMInd produced
its first LG (Goldstar) brand monitor. Today total capacity of the production line stands
at 120,000 units per annum.
Having gone through it's learning curve, presently the
facility is ramping up to full capacity while ensuring that quality of output is not
compromised: out of the last batch of monitors produced and sold, only 0.001 % were
defective. Indeed, with the methodical implementation of " Total Quality"
principles into its production line, IOMInd has succeeded to produce a
monitor considered as the best make amongst both local and foreign brands available in
Iran.
With an eye towards maintaining our quality, expansion
plans are underway. IOMInd is aiming to reach the 300,000 unit production
mark within the next two years, with 50% of output destined for export to neighboring
countries.
Under a license agreement with Olivetti of Italy, we
already manufacture over 7,500 slip printers and plan to produce 3,000 units per annum, of
special pass book printers for banking, travel and insurance as well.
Plans are already on the way to manufacture dot matrix
printers under license of Epson.
Utilizing our latest "state of the
art" SMT, insertion and production equipment, we also plan to manufacture 20,000 PCs
from Oct 98 to March 99 which will be increased to 80,000 units/annum in the year 2000 and
100,000 units by 2001 .
Our fax production is already planned to increase to 36,000 units/ annum by
1999 and 48,000 units in 2000.
Yet the journey is not complete. IOMlnd plans to increase the level of
local content by partnering with Iranian suppliers and bettering their systems to meet our
tight quality controls. In this way, the Group is pleased to serve the local Iranian
industry at large.
Finally, that world class companies approach IOMInd
to discuss projects for the production of their product lines is the best indicator of our
success at IOMInd.
Indeed, quality operations, like IOMInd,
sell their capacity. |
