Around 1891, a carpet weaving firm was revitalized by the Haghighi family in Isfahan. With a small investment, perseverance and the help of the members of the family, the carpet weaving looms were again set up. The first order came from Prince Zellu Sultan, the Governor of Isfahan. He ordered his full length picture to be woven. From the very beginning, the Haghighi family acquired a fine reputation in this industry.

By obtaining the necessary skills and the use of first-class raw materials, their reputation was enhanced. At that time, the skillfulness plus the honesty of Master Mehdi Khan Safdarzadeh Haghighi in Isfahan spread among merchants and the lovers of hand woven carpets.

The French Counsel, on the order of his government, was to get involved in the production and development of hand-woven Persian carpets. This mission was established for economic and international trade. It also provided employment for the Jewish minority in Isfahan. To accomplish this mission, the Counsel pleaded with Master Mehdi Khan Haghighi. On that date, a factory with approximately twenty carpet-weaving looms and about one hundred employees was established.

Within three years they had produced one hundred hand-woven carpets. Then the factory continued with the production of larger looms.

Very creative and original designs issued from the hand of Haj Ahga Imami. Botanical dyes were used in the making of carpets. Some carpets were exported to Egypt, Beirut, and European countries and some of these carpets were housed in the palaces of the Egyptian government authorities.

Master Safdarzadeh Haghighi spent about 60 years of his life, up to 1968, in the carpet industry and the last 20 years of his life with his sons managing the industry. This art was not forgotten with the death of Master Mehdi Khan. On the contrary with the perseverance and eagerness of his sons: Master Ghulam Ali, Master Yadullah, Master Faizullah, and Master Nasrullah the work of the father continued.
